Lacoste was born when tennis legend, Rene Lacoste founded La Chemise Lacoste in 1933.  Rene and business partner Andre Gillier began manufacturing a short sleeve, breathable shirt that you would wear on the court which now translates to their classic polo we all know love today.  The crocodile branding came from a bet Rene had with his French Davis Cup manager, concerning an alligator skin bag he would receive if they won the cup. Rene was then later nicknamed the ‘Alligator’ by the press.  The shirt was only available in white until 1951 and then they introduced their amazing colour palette. Today, Lacoste still has their iconic crocodile logo on knitwear, polo's, jackets, well the list could go on and on.
