Edwin clothing was established in Japan in 1947 by denim enthusiast Mr Tsunemi and has since continued to grow from strength to strength both as a brand and as a fashion. To drive his passion Tsunemi imported denim from the U.S which he laundered himself to get the desired effect for his customers, especially as denim was not manufactured in Japan at the time.

His passion from denim encouraged him to experiment with different washes and also divulge deeper with greater sophistication in fits, all contributing factors which result in a superior quality product. Edwin’s unique technologies and original hand washing processes creates a first class brand that prides itself on innovation, quality, integrity and craftsmanship. These ideals have become paramount and have been embedded in the manufacturing process since the conception of Edwin clothing.

In the 1970s Edwin clothing were the first to introduce ‘old wash’ which was a type of denim used to replicate worn and unwashed denim, whilst still remaining of an excellent quality standard – a pivotal piece for vintage clothing styles. Jumping forward into the 1980s Edwin then brought our attention to ‘stone washing’ which also asserted itself as a fundamental innovation in the progress of denim. Finally, in the 1990s, Edwin clothing launched ‘new vintage’ denim, another advance in the vintage clothing industry which encompassed classic designs pre-dating the 1950s.
